Log Home Basics Care Ideas

Do you wonder what you can do to help your Log Home or Log Cabins finish? Have you ever seen the car or truck that someone has wrote on saying this? Wash Me!!! This is really what needs to be done to most Log Homes or Log Cabins or even wood sided homes. Many of these Log Homes or Log Cabins are often in wooded areas or around lakes. They seem to attract bugs, spiders, hornet nests, bats, dirt, debris, and mold. This should be done a few times a season.

I hear almost every person say my house doesn’t have any mold. But the truth of the matter is most don’t realize it until we show them and they say I never knew that was mold. Most don’t think the Log Home or Log Cabin has dirt on it. But the truth is they are covered with dirt and mold.

So the best thing you can do ifs get out your hose or pressure washer and give it a bath. Do not use more than 500lbs of direct pressure on your Logs. This process will get the dirt and a lot of the grime off of your finish. These Log Homes and Log Cabins are exactly what they are called Log and Log equals Untreated wood. So keep it clean. You can chemically clean your house yearly or every 18 months but I recommend that you get specific instructions before doing this or have the Log Home Doctors to schedule you for your yearly check ups. When we do a check up we chemically clean your home, inspect your caulk or chinking and let you know if anything else is needed. You maybe saying this is expensive. But really if you do a yearly maintenance it will save ten’s of thousands in the long run due to the fact that it never gets in bad shape. Let me explain it this way. If we keep our body in shape it stays in shape but if we get out of shape it can take 10 times longer to lose the weight and get back in shape. If you run your cars tire down till they are bald they seem fine till one day when you get a lot of rain or snow and your car hydroplanes or slides right into a ditch or another car. Or worse the tire blows going down the freeway and something major happens. So let’s avoid the blowout with your Log Home or Log Cabin and make it shine forever. Do the basics.
